Springfield Falcons News Release
Scottsdale, AZ --- The Phoenix Coyotes, National Hockey League affiliate of the Springfield Falcons, announced today that goaltender Jean-Marc Pelletier had surgery this past weekend to repair a hernia injury. He will be out indefinitely.
"It's unfortunate that Jean-Marc incurred this injury this late in the summer," said Coyotes Executive Vice President and General Manager Michael Barnett. "We had hoped to have him healthy for training camp and we looked forward to seeing him play with the big team during the exhibition season. Only time will tell now when he will return but we have no intention of rushing the process."
Last season, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound netminder played two games with the Phoenix Coyotes, recording a 3.03 goals against average (GAA) and a .875 save percentage (SV%). Pelletier began the season with Lowell (AHL) before being traded by Carolina along with a conditional draft pick to Phoenix for Patrick DesRochers on December 31. While with Lowell, the 25-year-old native of Atlanta, Georgia played in 17 games, posting a record of 6-10-0, a 3.55 GAA and .898 SV%. In 24 games with Springfield (AHL), he posted a record of 12-7-4, a 2.37 GAA and .926 SV%.
Pelletier was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers (2nd round, 30th overall) in the 1997 Entry Draft.
