Trenton Thunder News Release

The Trenton Thunder, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that the #99 Perth Amboy Spring NASCAR Featherlite Series Modified racing car will be on display at Waterfront Park prior to the game on Thursday, June 24.

The car, along with driver Jamie Tomaino, will be on the stadium approach before the game. Tomaino, who is currently in fifth place in the NASCAR Featherlite Series, will be available for autographs.

"We are excited to be able bring a piece of the auto racing world to Waterfront Park for our fans to enjoy," said Thunder General Manager Rick Brenner.

Jamie "The Jet" Tomaino drives the #99 Perth Amboy Spring, 2 QWIK Racing Shocks NASCAR Featherlite Series Modified. He also competes in selected events at Wall Township Speedway in Belmar, New Jersey. At age 46, Jamie has spent more than half of his life in auto racing. Jamie began his racing career in 1974 at Wall Stadium, Wall, N.J. In 1985, the Winston Modified Tour was born and Jamie has been competing on the Tour (now the Featherlite Modified Series) ever since.

In 1990 he won the NASCAR Modified Tour Championship and was the NASCAR Most Popular Driver two years in a row in 1986 and 1987. Jamie has enjoyed much success in his 18 years with the series, winning three races and six poles. He holds the distinct honor of having competed at every event held since the inception of the series and has never finished out of the top 20 in the season point standings. 2004 is Jamie's 30th year of driving an Asphalt Modified Race Car.

On June 13, the Thunder will host the Cottman Transmissions #9 NASCAR Racing Car that is driven on the Nextel Cup Circuit by Jeff Burton. The car on display at Waterfront Park will be a real test car used by the Burton racing team and will be accompanied by video racing simulators where fans will be able to race for a chance to win a trip to the NASCAR race in Atlanta on October 30.
