COMSTOCK PARK - With four runs in their final three offensive innings, the Whitecaps rallied past Great Lakes for a fifth consecutive victory, 4-2. Phil Napolitan struck out four batters in an inning and a third to earn a victory for his fourth straight relief appearance.
Gorkys Hernandez delivered a game tying infield single to drive in Jordan Newton in the seventh inning. Scott Sizemore followed with a double to left center field that plated Hernandez from first and put the Whitecaps in front, 3-2.
Newton added an RBI double in the eighth for the final margin of victory as he stretched his career-long hitting streak to nine games.
Lauren Gagnier started the game for the Whitecaps and allowed two runs (1 ER) on six hits in 6.2 innings.
Luis Marte pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his third save.
Josh Wall threw five shutout innings as the Loons starter, but Joe Jones allowed three runs in 1.2 innings and took the loss.
