Nandin's safety squeeze in the tenth leads Rockland past New Jersey 2-1

(Ramapo, NY) After losing three straight games by one run in Quebec, Rockland would not be denied as Matt Nandin knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the tenth to push the Boulders past the Jackals 2-1.
New Jersey struck first in the top of the fourth when Nick Giarraputo doubled and was brought home on the very next at bat by Carlos Guzman. Boulders starter Dan Jurik settled in to finish seven strong innings, only giving up the one run on seven hits.
The Boulders offense was silent until the bottom of eighth when Orlando Mercado tied things up at one with a dinger over the left field wall. That would be all for New Jersey starter Kyle Greenwalt who surrendered just one run on five hits while striking out five in seven and a third innings.
Adrian Martin entered the game for the Boulders and did not allow a hit in the top of the ninth and tenth. The Boulders would end the game in the bottom of the tenth when Phillip Cuadrado tripled to center field that brought the Rockland faithful to their feet. Then Matt Nandin would supply the game-winning hit yet again with a safety squeeze that drove in Cuadrado and gave the Boulders their second win over Jackals.
Rockland takes on the Jackals again tomorrow night for an Independence Day spectacular. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. and post-game fireworks will follow the game.
