Can-Am League Game Recaps
July 3, 2012 - Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release
Rockland 2, New Jersey 1 (10 innings)
The Boulders trailed early and didn't score their first run until the eighth inning. But a Phillip Cuadrado triple that opened the bottom of the 10th set the stage for the club's extra-innings, 2-1 victory over New Jersey. Cuadrodo entered the at-bat 0-for-3 on the night and was replaced by pinch runner Cole Kraft, who scored two batters later on a Matt Nandin single. Nandin went 2-for-4 on the night, the only Boulder with multiple hits. The Jackals got two-hit performances from two- and three-hole hitting Angel Berroa and Bryan Sabatella. Despite throwing seven innings of one-run baseball, Boulders starting pitcher Dan Jurik did not factor in the decision. The win went to reliever Adrian Martin, who threw a perfect ninth and 10th inning.
Quebec 15, Newark 5
The Capitales scored a run in all but two innings against Newark on Tuesday, including seven in the fourth, defeating the Bears, 15-5. Quebec did it all, amazingly, without a single home run. That didn't stop CF Sebastien Boucher, however, from driving in four runs on three doubles and a single. Boucher went 4-for-5 with three runs and four RBI as one of four Capitales with multiple hits. The two-baggers were the 13th, 14th and 15th on the year for Boucher. For the Bears, 3B Tucker Nathans drove in two runs while going 2-for-4 on the night.
Amarillo 12, Worcester 2
The Tornadoes never got going on offense Tuesday night while the Amarillo Sox of the American Association had little trouble plating runs. The Sox defeated Worcester, 12-2. Worcester led, 1-0, after the top of the fourth inning. But after Amarillo tied the score in the bottom of the frame, the runs just kept on coming. The Sox plated three runs apiece in the fifth and sixth innings before a five-run seventh nearly put the game to bed. Amarillo 2B Jake Opitz hit his first home run of the year - the lone fourth-inning run for the Sox - to highlight a 3-for-4, three-run night. Tornadoes 2B Brandon Pinckney scored a run and went 2-for-5, joining CF Jerod Edmondson as the only Worcester batsmen with multiple hits. Four Tornadoes picked up at least two base knocks.
