Washington Mystics News Release
Washington, D.C. - The Washington Mystics today selected Crystal Langhorne with the sixth overall pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft.
"We are excited to bring a very efficient, productive, offensive player into our mix. We are also thrilled about Crystal's ability to rebound the ball and believe she will be a great fit for the Mystics," said General Manager Linda Hargrove.
Langhorne, 6-2 Forward/Center from the University of Maryland is the most decorated player in school history. She was named to the All-ACC team for each of her four years at Maryland. During her senior year at Maryland, Langhorne averaged 17.3 points per game and 9.4 rebounds per game. In 2006, she was named the Albuquerque Regional Most Outstanding Player while leading the Terrapins to the 2006 NCAA Championship. She is the only player in the history of the NCAA to lead the NCAA in field goal percentage three of her four years.
Langhorne has garnered numerous awards during her four years at Maryland, including the 2008 ACC Player of the Year. She was also the ACC Rookie of the Year in 2005. Langhorne was a WBCA All-American in 2007 as well as a USBWA All-American and Wooden Award Finalist in both 2006 and 2007.
The Mystics selected Lindsey Plumier in the second round (20th overall). A 6-4 Forward from UCLA, Plumier averaged 14.1 points per game and 6.45 rebounds per game. She played alongside current Mystics player, Nikki Blue and helped UCLA to the 2006 PAC-10 tournament championship.
