Behind the Arc: Against the Los Angeles Sparks on May 26th, the Mystics shot an impressive 52% (15-for-29) from 3pt-range. Fifteen three-point field goals made set a new WNBA league record. The previous record was 14 set by Minnesota and Sacramento. The Mystics previous record was 10 which was set on June 4, 2002 against Utah. Chasity Melvin (2-for-2) and Coco Miller (3-for-3) were both perfect from behind the arc.
Rookie Leaders: Mystics first round pick (sixth overall) Temeka Johnson is the only rookie of the 2005 WNBA draft to have started any games this season. She currently leads all rookies in assist per game (5.7), total steals (6) and minutes per game (27.0). Rookie Laurie Koehn, who went undrafted, leads all rookies in points per game (11.7) three pointers made (10) and three pointers attempted (20).
Coming off the bench: For the third straight game, the Mystics bench has outscored its opponents bench. Against Charlotte on May 21st, the Mystics bench scored the Sting, 29-11. Versus Connecticut on May 22nd, Washington's bench had 26 points to Connecticut's 12. Against Los Angeles, the Mystics bench scored 23 points to LA's 13.

The Mystics announced its television schedule for the 2005 season. Five Mystics games will also be carried on Comcast SportsNet. Dei Lynam will do the play-by for Comcast and Wizards center Brendan Haywood will do the Color Analyst. Washington will appear twice on ESPN2 this season.

"They are such great shooters. They have five shooters on the perimeter and they are a solid defensive team. The two games they've lost, I've watched both of them, Detroit and Indiana. They have just missed shots, they've been open everywhere they've just missed shots."

Alaniacs
For the second year, Washington Mystics guard, Alana Beard will sponsor The Alaniacs. For every home game Beard has purchased enough tickets for 25 young girls' ages 12-16 to sit in a special section called The Alaniacs. All participating groups will receive t-shirts and will be featured on the Jumbotron during the game.
All groups that are interesting in participating in this program should send a letter to the Washington Mystics Community Relations Department explaining why their group deserves the tickets. All letters should be sent to:

Taking it to the Beach: The first 5,000 fans attending the Mystics' game against the New York Liberty this Wednesday at 7:00 pm, will receive Mystics Beach Towels courtesy of Cheer, Bounce and Joy.
