STING NEWS AND NOTES
ROAD TRIP
The Sting will play their next three games on the road beginning in San Antonio on Thursday. The Sting then travel to Minnesota on Saturday and then play in Detroit on Friday, June 10. The Sting will play their next home game on Sunday, June 12 as they host the 2004 WNBA Champion Seattle Storm at 4 p.m.

VOTE FOR THE STING
Five Sting players are represented on the 2005 WNBA All-Star ballot – Dawn Staley, Allison Feaster, Tangela Smith, Tammy Sutton-Brown and Janel McCarville. Fans can vote for the WNBA All-Star starters on-line at www.charlottesting.com or by submitting a ballot during home games at the Charlotte Coliseum through June 23. The WNBA All-Star game will take place July 9 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut.

SCORING TWENTY
The Sting had two players post 20-plus point performances last week. On Thursday, May 26 Tangela Smith scored 21 points against Phoenix. For Smith it was the 17th 20-plus performance of her career. Two nights later, Sheri Sam scored 24 points against Los Angeles giving her 28 career games with 20-plus points.

The Mercury shot 66.7% (10-15) from behind the three-point line en route to a 68-58 victory over the Sting. Phoenix capitalized on their hot shooting early on to take a 12 point lead in the first half. Phoenix opened the second half on a 16-6 run to build their lead 21. Charlotte used a 13-0 run to pull within eight with 5:18 remaining. Anna DeForge and Diana Taurasi paced Phoenix with 20 and 19 points respectively. Tangela Smith led Charlotte with 21.

The Sting captured their first win of the season as they defeated the Sparks 84-75 on Saturday night. Charlotte shot a season-high 51.6% (32-62) from the field and 57.1% (8-14) from the three-point line and forced the Sparks into 20 turnovers leading to 22 Sting points. Sheri Sam scored a Sting season-high 24 points while Dawn Staley added 12 points and 10 assists. Chamique Holdsclaw paced the Sparks with 26 points and 11 rebounds.

UPCOMING STING EVENTS
June 12: Family Fun Sunday
The Sting will host Family Fun Sunday as they face the Seattle Storm. The first 2,500 fans will receive team posters sponsored by Charlotte Metro Credit Union. There will also be a special musical performance by recording artist Brie Larson.
June 25: Sting Host Superwoman Exhibit
A special photo exhibit featuring some of the top women in sports will be displayed at the Charlotte Coliseum. The photo exhibit is courtesy of the Women's Sports Foundation, Head & Shoulders and Wachovia.

THE WEEK AHEAD

Thursday, June 2 – at San Antonio
8 p.m. – SBC Center

The Sting will be looking for their second win of the season as they hit the road to take on the San Antonio Silver Stars. The Silver Stars currently hold an 0-4 record and will play the Los Angeles Sparks before facing the Sting. San Antonio is led by a dynamic backcourt featuring All-Stars Marie Ferdinand and Shannon Johnson. Ferdinand leads the Silver Stars in scoring with 14.8 points. The Silver Stars roster also features the #1 draft pick in 2003, forward LaToya Thomas who averages 12.3 points. Last season, the Sting and Silver Stars split the season series with each team winning on their home floor.

Saturday, June 4- at Minnesota
8 p.m. – Target Center

The Sting continue their road trip in Minnesota as they face the Lynx for the first time this season. The Lynx currently hold a 1-2 record with their lone victory coming against the Los Angeles Sparks. Veteran guard Katie Smith leads the Lynx averaging 18.7 points while second-year standout Nicole Ohlde averages 10.7 points and 6.3 rebounds. In 2004, the Sting won the season series 2-0. The Sting are 7-2 all-time against the Lynx and have never lost to Minnesota on the road (4-0).

DOUBLE-DOUBLE DAWN
Sting guard Dawn Staley recorded the fourth double-double of her WNBA career as she posted 12 points and 10 assists on Saturday, May 28 vs. Los Angeles.

MOORE MAKES DEBUT
Sting rookie Jessica Moore made her WNBA debut on Saturday , May 28 against the Los Angeles Sparks after being activated from the injured list on May 27. In her first WNBA appearance, she saw five minutes of action and recorded one assist.

SCORING POINTS
The Sting scored a season-high 84 points on Saturday against the Los Angeles Sparks. It was the Sting's highest point total since July 23, 2003 when they scored 92 points to defeat the Detroit Shock 92-73

CATCH THE STING ON TV
C-SET will next showcase the Sting on Sunday,
June 12 as they host the Seatte Storm.

The Charlotte Bobcats will have the 5th and the
13th selections in the 2005 NBA Draft.
