Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans go for a four-game sweep of the Frederick Keys in the first-half finale tonight. Justin Grimm gets the ball for the Birds and Barret Loux will piggy-back on that start out of the bullpen against Keys righty Oliver Drake. First pitch at BB&T Coastal Field is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

RHP Oliver Drake (5-3, 2.79) at RHP Justin Grimm (2-1, 2.22)

ABOUT LAST NIGHT...: The Pelicans followed up Friday's first-half clincher with a come-from-behind 8-5 victory to earn at least a series win over the Frederick Keys. Myrtle Beach will go for the four-game sweep tonight in the final game of the season's first half. The Pelicans scored in the first for the third straight game and held a 4-3 lead in the eighth. Jacob Julius homered off Trevor Hurley to put the Keys up 5-4. The Birds would rally in the home-half of the inning for four runs as they capitalized on three Frederick errors in the frame. Jared Hoying laced three hits and for the third straight night, Leury Garcia tallied three hits as well. Ryan Kelly tossed a 1-2-3 ninth for his ninth save.

A FATHER'S DAY TIE?: With a win in tonight's first-half finale, the Pelicans would not only complete a four-game sweep of the Keys, but they would tie Frederick for the best record in the Carolina League this season at 41-29.

LEAD-ING THE WAY: Shortstop Leury Garcia is loving life back in the leadoff spot. He notched his third straight three-hit game last night, all have been Pelicans victories. The catalyst has scored nine runs over his last five games and is batting .383 (23-60) over his last 13 contests.

ACE OF BASE: After having his league-best 16-game hitting streak snapped Friday, Ryan Strausborger got back in the hit column with a first-inning single. The All-Star extended his on-base streak to 30 games, a run that began May 19 in Winston-Salem and is the longest streak in the circuit this season.

DON'T FORGET VINNY: Ryan Strausborger has been grabbing headlines for his season-long on-base streak, but Vinny DiFazio has reached in his last 17 games. Despite a .208 batting average during his run that started May 4, the catcher has a .391 on base percentage. Myrtle Beach now has three of the five longest on-base streaks in the Carolina League this season. Jared Prince's 19-gamer in May is the fourth-longest run in the loop this year.
