Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
After last night's incredible 11-10 win, the Pelicans play the rubber game of their three-game weekend series against the Frederick Keys. First pitch at BB&T Coastal Field is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. Game notes are attached.
RYAN'S BIG NIGHT: Ryan Strausborger had a huge game in Saturday night's win. He cracked four hits, including three doubles, and made the game-saving outfield assist in the eighth inning. It was his second four-hit game of the year, the other came on April 12 at Frederick. His three two-baggers are a new Pelicans' season-high, and he's the third Pelican to score three times in one game in 2011.
SATURDAY NIGHT'S ALL RIGHT: The Pelicans have put up 11 runs in each of the last three Saturday games. They had an 11-4 win in Lynchburg on April 16 and an 11-2 victory in Kinston last Saturday. Myrtle Beach needed every one of the 11 this time, as Frederick's furious comeback fell just short, 11-10. The Birds pounded out six doubles, three by Ryan Strausborger, two by Jared Bolden and one by Mitch Hilligoss, to set a new season-high. It was the third time the Pelicans had six extra-base hits in a game.
COULD GO EITHER WAY: In both series between the Pelicans and Keys this season, the two teams have split the first two games. After the Keys dropped the opener at Harry Grove Stadium, the home team came back to win the final two games to take the series. In this weekend set, Myrtle beach lost the first game, 5-1 and held on to win the middle game, 11-10. The Birds hope to make this series like the one in Frederick, with the home team winning the rubber game. The Pelicans have only played one deciding game in a three-game set, winning 4-3 against Wilmington on the season's first weekend.
