Myers, Wenger Take Care of Broncos

LAREDO, TX - Amarillo Dillas starter Josh Myers had his first professional start on Tuesday night and dominated while Justin Wenger went 4-4 with a homerun and two RBI over the Laredo Broncos in a 4-0 win at Veteran's Field in front of 816 fans.

Meyers (1-0) went all nine innings, allowed only five hits, walked two and struck out five batters for the win. Broncos starter Henry Lozado (4-5) went eight innings, scattered ten hits and allowed all four runs despite eight strikeouts.

Wenger started the Dillas off on the right foot in the first inning with a solo homerun. Jordan Ramos singled in the third, went to second on an error, stole third and scored on a Wenger single for a 2-0 lead.

In the fifth, Amarillo would score twice more as Wenger and Carlos Figueroa scored on an RBI single by Danny Bravo and an RBI double by Gary Schneidmiller for a 4-0 lead.

Myers allowed his first hit in the fifth by Edgard Clemente, but allowed only four more through the ninth for a complete game shutout in his first professional pitching appearance in the Dillas 4-0 win.

With the win, the Dillas improve to 20-20 on the second-half of the season and 46-44 overall. Wednesday, the Dillas will take on the Broncos for the third game of a four-game series at 7:35 pm with Dillas Pre-Game set to begin at 7:20 pm on 1010 AM The Canyon and online via AudioSportsOnline.com. Game time is tentative and is subject to blackout.
