New York Boulders News Release

Daryl Myers' three-run home run in the bottom of the 10th inning gave the Windy City ThunderBolts a come-from-behind 7-5 win over the New York Boulders on Saturday night at Ozinga Field in Crestwood, IL.

Trailing 5-3 entering the home half of the 10th, the ThunderBolts' Brynn Martinez singled home Jairus Richards, who had started the inning on second base as per the International Tiebreaker rule. On the single, Boulders' rightfielder Max Smith threw out Jake Boone at third for the frame's first out, with Martinez taking second on the throw.

Nikola Vasic was struck out by New York closer Leo Pineda for the second out, but Jace Mercer was hit by a pitch to extend the inning for Myers, who hit a 1-2 pitch over the wall in center for the game-winner.

In the top of the 10th, the Boulders scored twice - the first run coming on an RBI single by Gabriel Garcia, the other on a triple to left by Chris Kwitzer.

The ThunderBolts had battled back from a 3-0 deficit to forge a tie and eventually send the game into extra innings.

New York plated three runs in the second inning. With two outs, Giovanni Garbella reached on a bunt single before Al Reda walked to put runners on first and second. Jake MacKenzie then laced a double down the third base line that scored Garbella and, on Windy City left fielder Nikola Vasic's miscue, Reda came around from first to make it a 2-0 game.

David Vinsky's double scored MacKenzie with the frame's third run.

The ThunderBolts got two runs back in the third - one on a Vasic RBI groundout and the other on a run-scoring single from Jace Mercer.

Windy City knotted the game at 3-3 on a solo home run to right-center by Richards, his first of the season.

Pineda was tagged with the loss for the Boulders, leveling his season mark at 1-1; while Daniel Kight, who struck out the lone batter he faced to end the top of the 10th, got the win in his first decision of the year.
