New Jersey Jackals News Release
LITTLE FALLS, NJ-The Northern League announced its weekly award winners today and a pair of New Jersey Jackals' players were honored. Right-handed pitcher Aaron Myers was selected as the Northern League East Pitcher-of-the-Week; while teammate Travis Bailey was selected as the NL East Player-of-the-Week.
Myers made two starts this past week, against Brockton and Quebec, and posted a 2-0 record and a perfect 0.00 ERA. In 16 innings of work, Myers did not allow an earned run and he allowed just 6 base hits. The 26 year-old tossed a complete-game three-hitter vs. Brockton on Wednesday and then on three days rest he limited Quebec to only an unearned run and three hits over 7 innings on Sunday.
Bailey, the Jackals' right fielder, earned league honors by batting .577 with 4 home runs, 11 RBI and 11 runs scored this past week. He has homered in three straight games, hitting four in that span. On Thursday he tied a franchise record by scoring 5 runs in a 19-5 rout over Brockton. Bailey currently leads the league with 53 RBI on the season, while his 12 home runs rank 2nd in the league.
The Jackals, 38-17 on the season, are currently on an eight-game winning streak. They will begin a three-game series in Brockton, MA Tuesday evening.
