
MVP Sich returns to FireAntz

[FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.] - The Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced today the signing of forward Rob Sich. The 2006-07 regular season Most Valuable Player of the SPHL returns to the club after playing for the Pensacola Ice Pilots of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) this season. The club also completed a trade with the Twin City Cyclones, acquiring defenseman Matt Curley in exchange for defenseman Keith Detlefsen.
Sich, a 6'0'', 200-pound forward from Windsor, Ontario returns to the FireAntz with whom he won the 2006-07 SPHL Regular Season Most Valuable Player Award. Last season with the FireAntz Sich compiled 29 goals and 28 assists in only 25 games. He also had an outstanding playoffs for the SPHL Champion FireAntz. He tallied six goals and nine assists, for 15 points, in only eight games played.
Sich is expected to be in the lineup for Thursday night's contest, at home, against the Richmond Renegades.
FireAntz Complete Trade with Twin City
The FireAntz have acquired defenseman Matt Curley in exchange for defenseman Keith Detlefsen. Curley, a 5'11'', 185-pound defenseman from Madrid, New Jersey joins the FireAntz after having played six games with the Cyclones. He had no points and 19 penalty minutes. Detlefsen played in seven games with the FireAntz notching two goals and three assists.
