OGDEN - Billings Mustangs right fielder Adam Matthews hit a grand slam in a 10-2 win over the Ogden Raptors Saturday night at Lindquist Field.

In the third inning, after Jacob Scavuzzo hit a solo homer, his league-leading 11th of the season, the Mustangs scored five runs. Nick Bendedetto and Jon Matthews started the inning with back-to-back singles. Ty Washington then reached first on catcher's interference to load the bases. Avain Rachal hit an RBI single to left to keep the bases loaded and tie the game. Two batters later, Adam Matthews hit a grand slam to center field, his first homer of the season, to put Billings ahead 5-1.

The Mustangs extended their lead in the fourth. With one out, Jon Matthews was hit by a pitch. Two batters later, Rachal was also hit by a pitch. Carlos Sanchez then hit a three-run homer to right to put the Mustangs ahead 8-1.

Scavuzzo drove in the only other run for the Raptors on Saturday, hitting a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning.

The Raptors and Mustangs will play the second game of the three-game series on Sunday. Luis De Paula for Ogden will face Ben Lively. Game starts at 4:00 and can be heard on 97.5 The Zone.
