Sioux City Musketeers News Release
Sioux City, Iowa - The Sioux City Musketeers have acquired defenseman Garrett Cockerill from the Des Moines Buccaneers in exchange for affiliate player Ryan Norman. The Musketeers have also added Robert (Bobo) Carpenter to their active roster.
Cockerill comes to Sioux City with two years of USHL experience under his belt. The 6' 205 pound native of Brighton MI has 5 goals and 9 assists on the season along with 99 penalty minutes in Des Moines.
He was drafted 2nd overall in the 2010 USHL Futures draft by Muskegon and eventually ended up playing for the Buccaneers. He is currently committed to play college hockey at Northeastern University in 2014-2015.
"Garrett brings a veteran presence, tenacity and offensive ability to our back end." stated General Manager Luke Strand in reference to the newly acquired defenseman. Cockerill is expected to first suit up for the Musketeers on Saturday night, February 8th when the Musketeers host Tri-City.
The 1996 born Austin Prep forward Bobo Carpenter was also added to the active roster. Carpenter, the Boston University commit is currently 146 on NHL central scouting. "Bobo is a hard skating two way forward that can play center or wing and has the offensive ability to make plays." Stated by Head Coach Jay Varady. Bobo played for Varady this summer in Buffalo at the USA hockey select 17 festival.
"We are happy to add these two players to the Musketeers family in a push to make the playoffs. As the deadline has passed we feel we have given the organization the best opportunity to succeed now and in the future." Stated General Manager Luke Strand.

The team returns to home ice tomorrow night when they host the Tri-City Storm for a 7:05pm game at the Tyson Events Center.
