
Murphy's Double Propels Miracle to 2-1 Win

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Fort Myers Miracle edged the Charlotte Stone Crabs, 2-1, at Hammond Stadium on Tuesday night.
For the second straight game, the Stone Crabs scored the first run of the night. In the top of the second, Justin Williams launched a 2-1 pitch from Miracle starter Randy LeBlanc onto the boardwalk in left center field to begin the frame, 1-0. The home run was Williams' first of the season.
LeBlanc (1-2) held the Stone Crabs off the board the rest of the evening. Hurling six innings and allowing just one run on three hits, LeBlanc worked around three walks and struck out one.
In the sixth, Max Murphy lifted the Miracle into the lead with a two-run double. After five scoreless frames from Charlotte starter Henry Centeno, Edgar Corcino started a scoring frame by reaching on a bunt single. Advancing to second base on a ground out to third by Chris Paul, Corcino stood in scoring position when Joe Maloney was struck by a Centeno (1-2) pitch. Murphy then cracked a 1-2 breaking ball over Bralin Jackson's head in left field to bring home Corcino and Maloney, 2-1.
The Miracle bullpen took over in the seventh. Brandon Peterson emerged and tossed two scoreless frames with three strikeouts. In the ninth, the Miracle called on Yorman Landa. Earning his fourth save, Landa recorded a perfect frame with one strikeout.
The Miracle (32-35) complete a three-game set with the Stone Crabs (33-34) on Wednesday evening at 7:05 p.m. bidding for a sweep at Hammond Stadium.
