Murphy HR Backs Strong Pitching in 4-0 Win

TRENTON, NJ- Southpaw Sean Nolin worked six shutout innings in his second start of the season and catcher Jack Murphy hit his first home run of the season as the Fisher Cats earned a split of a four-game series with a 4-0 win in Trenton Sunday afternoon.

Nolin (1-0) worked six innings, allowing four hits. He walked two and struck out eight batters. He was followed to the mound by Austin Bibens-Dirkx and Joel Carreno who combined to blank Trenton for the final three innings to complete the shutout.

New Hampshire took the lead in the top of the fifth inning. Brad Glenn started the inning with a single. John Tolisano reached on an error by Trenton starter Jose Ramirez. Murphy then drilled a three-run homer into the batters eye to give the Fisher Cats a 3-0 lead.

In the top of the eighth inning, Ryan Schimpf blasted his eighth home run, a solo shot, to put the Fisher Cats up 4-0.

Ramirez (0-1) took the loss. He worked six innings, allowing two hits and three runs (two earned). Ramirez had nine strikeouts.

The Fisher Cats have Monday off, and then have a date with the Future Red Sox on Tuesday night at 6:35pm.
