CURVE, Pa.- Charlie Cutler delivered a pinch-hit, walk-off win for the Altoona Curve, who defeated the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at Peoples Natural Gas Field. Cutler drove a pitch from Phil McCormick (1-2) to deep center field and Jarrett Parker appeared to make the catch but the ball popped out of his glove allowing Andrew Lambo to score the game-winning run from second base. Neil Walker went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk in the fourth game of his Major League rehab assignment with the Curve.

Lambo reached on a walk to lead-off the ninth inning. He moved to second on a Mel Rojas Jr. ground out and remained there with two outs. Cutler came on to pinch-hit and drove a fly ball to deep center field. Parker appeared to make the catch but the ball popped out of his glove allowing Lambo to score the winning run.

Jameson Taillon had everything working early on, getting a pair of ground balls in the first inning followed by three consecutive strikeouts. All told on the day, Taillon allowed just two hits in six innings of work while walking three and striking out eight. The Lakeland, Florida native now has 47 strikeouts this season moving him into a tie for fourth place in the Eastern League. He sits four behind the league leader Danny Salazar of Akron.

Chris Gloor was equally as good on the mound for the Flying Squirrels working 6.2 scoreless innings. The left-hander scattered four hits, walked two and struck out three in his longest outing of the season.

Gloor was lifted from the game after a Kelson Brown single that put runners on the corners for the Curve with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Jose Valdez was able to strike out Carlos Paulino to keep the game in a scoreless tie.

Richmond struck first offensively working three consecutive walks to load the bases in the top half of the eighth inning. Andrew Susac delivered a sacrifice fly to the warning track in left field that brought home Javier Herrera to put the Squirrels in front 1-0.

Altoona promptly answered back in the bottom of the eighth inning when Andy Vasquez worked a leadoff walk, moved to second on a wild pitch by Valdez and then to third on a sacrifice bunt from Gift Ngoepe. Walker dropped a single into left field to bring in Vazquez and knot the game at one.

Ethan Hollingsworth (1-2) worked 1.2 innings in relief without allowing a hit and walking two to earn his first win as a member of the Pirates organization. Taillon, Hollingsworth and Jhonathan Ramos kept the Squirrels out of the hit column from the fifth inning through the end of the game on Sunday.

After an off day on Monday, the Curve (16-21) will welcome in the Trenton Thunder, affiliates of the New York Yankees, for a three-game set beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night. It'll be a Two-for-Tuesday thanks to Atlantic Broadband with two-for-one offers on tickets, hot dogs and small popcorns.
