
Mudcats Hit Three Home Runs in Series Finale Victory

ZEBULON, N.C - The Carolina Mudcats (45-42, 11-6) hit a trio of home runs in a 6-1 victory over the Frederick Keys (39-48, 4-14) on Sunday afternoon at Five County Stadium. With the loss, the Keys finished the five-game road trip with a 1-4 record.
It was a scoreless game going to the bottom of the third. Dallas Carroll then led off with a home run. It was his fourth home run of the year, and his second of the series. In the fourth, the Mudcats added to their lead. Ryan Aguilar hit a one-out double to right-center field. One batter later, he scored on a Pat McInerney single to make it 2-0 Carolina.
Carolina plated two more in the fifth. With one out, Demi Orimoloye tagged one to left field for a solo home run. Weston Wilson followed with a solo shot of his own. The three home runs surrendered by Alex Wells tied a career-high.
The Mudcats extended their lead in the seventh with two more runs. With two outs, Wilson singled. Cooper Hummel brought him home with a double. Dustin Houle then drove Hummel in with a single to improve the Mudcats lead to 6-0.
The Keys scored their lone run in the ninth. Wilson Garcia doubled with one out, and he scored on a Randolph Gassaway double which made it 6-1.
Wells (3-6) took the loss. He tossed 4.1 innings, and allowed four runs on six hits. The left-hander walked two and struck out six. Harber (4-4) tied a career-high by pitching seven innings in a winning effort. He did not allow a run and scattered four hits while walking one and striking out two.
The orange and black return home on Monday for a four-game set against the Wilmington Blue Rocks. Right-hander Matthias Dietz (0-1, 9.00) takes the mound for the Keys. He will be opposed by right-hander Gerson Garabito (3-6, 4.05) for the Blue Rocks.
