MUDBUGS START TRAINING CAMP IN MISSISSIPPI

Today the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs will open training camp with their first practice of the 2008-2009 CHL season at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, Mississippi. The 'Bugs will be holding practices at the DCC all week long leading up to their two exhibition games this weekend. Bossier-Shreveport will face the division rival Mississippi RiverKings in a pair of preseason contests on Friday and Saturday night at 7:05 pm at the DCC.

CHL AND PHPA SET TO MEET THIS WEEK IN DENVER

PHPA Lifts Strike

The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced Sunday that an agreement to meet with the Professional Hockey Player Association (PHPA) has been reached with the two sides meeting on Wednesday, October 8th and Thursday, October 9th in Denver, Colorado. Subsequently, the PHPA announced that the strike against CHL teams by the Union has been lifted, effective immediately.

Training camps for CHL teams began yesterday and today with team physicals for players. The team conducted events were highly attended by CHL players. On-ice activity begins on Monday, October 6th and the regular season begins on Friday, October 17th.

MUDBUGS ANNOUNCE 08-09 PRESEASON MEDIA DAY

The Mudbugs would like to invite all local media members to a preseason media luncheon on Tuesday, October 14th at the CenturyTel Center. The media day, which is presented by Christus Schumpert Health Systems, will begin with a team practice at 10:00 am. Members of the media are invited to watch the team practice that day as the 'Bugs prepare for their season opener against Texas. All Mudbugs players will be available by request after practice, but Head Coach Scott Muscutt and selected players will address the media following the practice session. The media luncheon will be catered by Johnny's Catfish & Seafood.

OPENING NIGHT COUNTDOWN: 11 days

The Mudbugs will kick off their 12th season of play on Friday night, October 17th at CenturyTel Center against former division rival Texas. With seven games on tap for that night, the Central Hockey League will start its 17th season of competition.

GAME NOTES: Roster spots for both teams will be at stake as the Mudbugs battle the RiverKings in the first of two exhibition games at the DeSoto Civic Center.
