Oilers training camp opens

It was hard to tell that it was only the first day of training camp for the Tulsa Oilers, preparing for their 17^th Central Hockey League season.

Coach Dan Hodge ran 28 players through a number of drills and on ice situations, and was impressed with what he saw.

"I liked the effort and the intensity," Hodge said. "These guys came to camp in shape. You can tell they were working hard over the summer. But there's a long way to go."

The Oilers will have another free practice session on Tuesday morning, starting at 8:30 at the Oilers Ice Center, located at 64^th and Mingo.

On Thursday October 9^th , the Oilers will host an exhibition game against Oklahoma City at the Oilers Ice Center. Cost for season ticket holders who purchase tickets in advance is $10. Non season ticket holder tickets are $15. Tickets for everyone at the door the night of the game, will be $15. That will be one of three preseason games for the Oilers. They will play at Wichita on Wednesday October 8^th at 7 p.m. and play at Oklahoma City on Saturday October 11^th at 7 p.m.

The Oilers will play their first home game in the BOK Center presented by U. S. Cellular, on Saturday October 25^th , against the arch rival Oklahoma City Blazers. Season tickets for the Oilers 2008-09 season in the new BOK Center are available by calling the Oilers at (918) 632-PUCK (7825).
