PHPA Lifts Strike

[RIO RANCHO, N.M.]- The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that an agreement to meet with the Professional Hockey Player Association (PHPA) has been reached with the two sides meeting on Wednesday, October 8th and Thursday, October 9th in Denver, Colorado. Subsequently, the PHPA announced that the strike against CHL teams by the Union has been lifted, effective immediately.

Training camps for CHL teams began yesterday and today with team physicals for players. The team conducted events were highly attended by CHL players. On-ice activity begins on Monday, October 6th and the regular season begins on Friday, October 17th.

EXHIBITION GAME

Tickets are still available for the exhibition game at the Chavez Center in Santa Fe on Saturday, October 11th. All seating is general admission and only $8. All proceeds from the game will benefit Santa Fe Youth Hockey. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.

Tickets for the Scorpions game can be purchased over the phone by calling the Chavez Center box office at 505-955-4000. Tickets can also be bought in person at the Chavez Center box office located at 3221 Rode Road in Santa Fe. The box office hours are Monday-Saturday 9 a.m.-8 p.m.

The Scorpions home opener is slated for October 17th at 7:15 p.m. The first 1,500 fans inside the Santa Ana Star Center receive rally towels courtesy of Santa Ana Star Casino. Game tickets start as low as $9. Make sure to help fill the Santa Ana Star Center as exciting, fun filled hockey returns to New Mexico.
