Mudbugs To Face Jackalopes Twice At CTC This Weekend

November 5, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA - This weekend the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs are at home to play back-to-back games at the CenturyTel Center for the first time this season. The 'Bugs will host the Odessa Jackalopes both Friday and Saturday at 7:05 pm, with a number of great events taking place at these two exciting games!

Friday night's game, which is presented by Haygood Dental Care, will also feature our annual food drive to benefit the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana. The Food Bank effectively serves over 55,000 hungry individuals within a seven-parish area of Northwest Louisiana. Help us fight hunger right here in our region this holiday season by bringing non-perishable food items with you on Friday night to donate to those in need.

With Veteran's Day coming up next week, Saturday night will be the Mudbugs' yearly Military Appreciation Night, presented by McKay Consulting. Join us in honoring the men and women of our Nation's Armed Services both past and present with events to take place throughout the evening. Many active military members and veterans from our local community will be in attendance, and the Mudbugs will wear specialty patriotic themed jerseys that will be auctioned off to the fans immediately following the game.

Saturday will also be our first public post-game skate of the season, where fans are invited to skate on the CenturyTel Center ice after the game. Cost is $6.00 per person (skate rental is included) for one hour of skating. Public skating is limited to the first 100 people to sign up at the Gateway Tire Fan Services Center located inside the main building entrance.

Odessa brings the CHL's best record to Bossier City after going 5-1-1 (11 points) through its first seven games of the year. The Jackalopes are in Corpus Christi tonight to face the IceRays before venturing north to the CenturyTel Center for tomorrow's tilt. The Mudbugs come into Friday's game having won 11 consecutive decisions over the Jackalopes dating back to the 2002-03 season. Odessa has not beaten Bossier-Shreveport since December 21, 2002, and hasn't won in regulation at the CTC since January 7, 2001.

The Mudbugs and Jackalopes have faced each other once this season, with Bossier-Shreveport mounting a furious comeback to win in a shootout. While Odessa led 3-0 after one period and 4-2 into the third, the Mudbugs never stopped coming and eventually tied the game at four. Then during a marathon 11-round shootout, Simon Mangos scored twice to cap off the Mudbugs' 5-4 victory over the Jackalopes.

After the two home games against Odessa, the Mudbugs will cap off their first three-in-three weekend of the season at Texas Sunday afternoon. The 'Bugs and Brahmas will face-off at 4:05 pm on Sunday. The game will not be broadcast on the radio, but will be shown live online on CHL TV.

Mudbugs season tickets, mini-plans and group packages are still available, so call (318) 752-BUGS or stop by the team office inside CenturyTel Center for more information. Individual tickets for both of this weekend's games are available at the CenturyTel Center main box office, through Ticketmaster at (318) 741-9700 or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
