Mudbugs shut out RiverKings, 4-0

Ken Carroll made 49 saves as the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs shutout the Mississippi RiverKings 4-0 today at the DeSoto Civic Center during the RiverKings' Fifth Annual Face-Off Field Trip Game.

The students in attendance saw the Mudbugs (26-7-4) score three times in the second period to increase their Northeast Division lead over the RiverKings (22-14-1) to 11 points.

In the second period, Brett Smith scored his 14th goal of the season at 6:54. Joe Ori followed that up with his 15th at 10:07 on a power play. Then Elias Godoy netted his 10th at 16:44 to give the Mudbugs a 3-0 lead.

Justin Aikins scored his eighth of the season with 6:52 remaining in the third period to round out the scoring.

Jeff Van Nynatten made 23 saves for the RiverKings.

The RiverKings host the Oklahoma City Blazers on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. The pre-game show begins at 6:55 p.m. on Sports 56 WHBQ.
