January 22, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
New Mexico Scorpions News Release

[ PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. ]-The Scorpions saw their winning streak snapped with an 9-4 loss Tuesday night. The eight game streak goes down as the third longest in franchise history.

The first period was a shooting fest with the teams combining for 31 shots. The Sundogs got on the board first when Tyler Redenbach collected his own rebound and put it in the net.

It took very little time for the Scorpions to come back. Only 26-seconds later, Aaron MacInnis launched a bomb from the blue line and tucked it just under the crossbar.

Late in the period the Scorpions went to the power play and got a great bounce. Vladimir Hartinger launched a shot from the blue line that was initially saved. With traffic in front of the net, goaltender Bill Zaniboni dropped the rebound to the ice. As he was moving to find the puck his arm swept the ice and accidentally pushed the puck into the net. Craig Macdonald was given credit for the power play goal.

The tide turned in the second period as the Sundogs scored five goals. The first two came on the power play as Jon Landry scored at the 9:35 mark and Alex Leavitt lit the lamp at the 11:32 mark. Olivier Latendresse increased the lead when he walked in from the wall and roofed a shot over goalie Andrew Martin four minutes later.

The home team excited their fans again when Jason Visser scored a rebound goal at the 16:14 mark. Arizona struck one final time in the middle period when Mark Kolanos turned a Scorps turnover into a goal.

The scoring continued for both teams in the final period. Vladimir Hartinger scored a power play goal giving the Scorps some third period momentum. It was quickly stopped when Arizona went back to the power play. Daniel Laperriere's slap shot found the back of the net at the 6:58 mark.

Dusty Collins extended the Sundogs lead with a rebound goal at the 10:29 mark. Mitch Stephens gave life back to the Scorpions when he scored at the 12:53 mark. Collins finished the night scoring with his second goal of the night late in the third period.

Friday, the Scorpions continue the three-game road trip in Odessa. The game can be heard on 610 The Sports Animal or seen for free on CHL Network starting at 5:50 with the pre-game show.
