
Mud Hens Beat Braves

Richmond, VA - The Toledo Mud Hens beat the Richmond Braves 4-1 Saturday at The Diamond. The Hens scored three runs in the third and held off two late Braves rallies to earn the win.
In the third Toledo's Andres Torres knocked in a run with a double and scored on a Kevin Hooper single. Chris Shelton tripled Hooper home but was thrown out trying to stretch it into an inside-the-park home run. The Braves scored their run in the fifth on a Doug Clark sacrifice fly. Toledo tacked on a run in the sixth on an RBI triple by Henry Mateo. The Braves had the go-ahead run up in the seventh and the tying run up in the eighth but were turned away.
Dennis Tankersly pitched 6.2 innings without allowing an earned run to collect the win. Ryan Baerlocher struck out seven in five innings but took the loss. Gregor Blanco and Tony Pena had two hits each for the Braves. Torres had four hits for the Mud Hens
The Braves and Mud Hens continue their series between the first place clubs in the South and West Sunday at 2 PM. Kevin Barry will pitch for the Braves against Virgil Vasquez.
