MSG Network, MetroStars Team For "Cheering For Children" Charity Auction Tomorrow

New York, NY, July 30 -MSG Network (MSG) will partner with the MetroStars during tomorrow night's 7:00 p.m. game telecast of the MetroStars' home game against the Columbus Crew to raise funds and community awareness for MSG Networks Cheering for Children, a division of the Madison Square Garden Cheering for Children Foundation.

This is the first time that MSG has held a special soccer-related auction night. This past April, the seventh annual "Cheering for Children Week" took place with participation from the New York Mets, New York Knicks, New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders and New Jersey Nets. Up for bid will be assorted autographed MetroStars memorabilia items, including the following special experiences:

* Be the MetroStars honorary ball kid during the August 25th game v. DC United. The winner will serve as a ball kid for pre-game and during the game.

* MetroStars road trip for the September 14th game v. DC United, which includes travel on team bus, hotel and tickets to game for two people.

* MetroStars VIP Package for the August 17th game v. Dallas. The package is for four people and includes pre-game field passes, VIP tickets and a post-game locker room tour.

* MetroStars behind-the-scenes tour for the September 12th game v. DC United. The package is for two people and includes lunch with MetroStars general manager Nick Sakiewicz. Package also includes pre-game field passes and VIP tickets.

* MetroStars playoff road trip for the first away playoff game. Package includes travel with team (either plane, bus, or train depending on opponent), hotel and tickets to game for two people.

"Our Cheering for Children efforts are a tremendous point of pride for MSG Networks," said Mike McCarthy, executive vice president, Madison Square Garden Networks. "The MetroStars have really embraced our fundraising efforts, proving that not only are they outstanding on the field, but equally tremendous in the community." All net proceeds from MSG Network-MetroStars "Cheering for Children Night" telethon will benefit "The Cheering for Children Foundation," which directly impacts the lives of more than 30,000 schoolchildren in 120 after-school programs throughout New York City's five boroughs. The after-school commitment, which began during the 1999-2000 school year, includes educational, athletic, artistic and social programs designed to inspire and empower young people to set and achieve goals, while also providing valuable programming for after-school programs in need of positive and engaging curricula. The Madison Square Garden Cheering for Children Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.

MSG Networks is part of Madison Square Garden L.P. Cablevision Systems Corporation owns a controlling interest in MSG L.P., which also includes the MSG Network, FOX Sports, the New York Knicks (NBA), the New York Rangers (NHL), the New York Liberty (WNBA), the Hartford Wolf Pack (American Hockey League) and the Madison Square Garden arena complex, located in the heart of the New York metropolitan area.
