Most Homers in Team History Propel Pit Spitters to Win

Kenosha, WI - At historic Simmons Field, the Traverse City Pit Spitters rode a huge offensive night to a 14-7 victory on Saturday, splitting the series with the Kenosha Kingfish and getting their first road win of the season.

The five home runs hit by Pit Spitter hitters is the most home runs hit in a single game in team history.

Christian Faust got things going right away, putting the third pitch of the game over the left field wall for his first home run of the season. His hit streak is now at five games, going 3-6. Michael Stygles and Colin Summerhill each doubled home a run, putting Traverse City up 3-0.

After two Kenosha runs in the bottom half, Traverse City put up three more runs in the top of the second. Miles Simington and Chris Monroe singled home runs, and Michael Stygles got his second RBI double of the game.

Kenosha scored two more in the bottom half and took the lead in the fifth after three errors led to three unearned runs.

Camden Traficante struck in the sixth, putting a ball just over the right field wall for his first homer of the season, sparking a six-run sixth. Adam Proctor doubled in a run and later scored on a wild pitch.

Chris Monroe got himself a two-run home run in the sixth, sending a no doubter over everything at Simmons Field. He would strike again in the eighth, hitting one out to left center field. Monroe finished the game 3-5 with three RBI's, extending his hit streak to three games.

Miles Simington hit his first home run of the year as well, a deep drive to right field. He finished with a season high three hits.

Faust stole two bases and Simington stole one, increasing the team stolen base streak to six games.

Pat Hohlfield (1-0, 0.00 ERA) pitched three innings of relief, giving up no earned runs. He also pitched three scoreless innings on May 31 against Kokomo. Coby Greiner and John Beuckelaere (1-0) combined for three scoreless frames to finish the game.
