Morrison Stands Tall in Shootout Loss to Solar Bears

North Charleston, S.C. - Goaltender Adam Morrison made 31 saves, but the South Carolina Stingrays (3-4-0-1) fell to the Orlando Solar Bears (4-1-1-1) 2-1 in the shootout at the North Charleston Coliseum Tuesday evening.

Orlando opened the scoring at 10:58 of the first period when defenseman Kyle Medvec tapped a pass from forward Olivier Fortier past the right pad of Morrison. Forward Ryan Ginand added the second assist.

Stingrays forward Mike Hamilton tied the contest on the power play with 1:12 to play in regulation beating Solar Bears netminder John Curry (W, 30 saves 31 shots) under the glove with a wrist shot from the right-wing circle. Defensemen Tommy Cross and Ryan Turek earned assists.

In the shootout, forwards Andrew Cherniwchan and Tyler McNeely lit the lamp for the Stingrays, but the Solar Bears slipped three past Morrision for the victory. The Stingrays ended the night 1-for-6 on the power play while the Solar Bears went 0-for-5.
