
Morning Skate: Bulls Wrap up 34th Season vs. Wolves

BELLEVILLE, ON - The Belleville Bulls wrap up their 34th OHL season at the Yardmen Arena the same way they started it, hosting the Sudbury Wolves. The Bulls are coming off a huge come from behind 4-3 shootout win over the conference leading Oshawa Generals on Wednesday night. The Wolves, however kicked off their current Eastern road swing with back-to-back losses. Puck drop on a special night in the friendly city is set for 7:05pm.
Sudbury opened the scoring just under the half way point of the first period at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on Thursday night. The Petes had an answer and battled back downing the Wolves 4-2. Goal scorers for Sudbury were left-winger Brody Silk and forward Jacob Harris. Netminder Troy Timpano made 34 saves in the loss.
The Wolves are led by 1996-born winger Pavel Jenys. The Czech Republic native has 15 goals and 29 assists in 61 games played. Dunnville, Ontario native Matt Schmalz has pitched in with 24 goals and 16 assists in 64 games played. Timpano has been given the majority of the starts this season. The sophomore goaltender has a .886 save percentage and a 4.47 goals against average.
Belleville entertained the Oshawa Generals for the 4th and final time this season on Wednesday night. The Gens opened up the scoring early but it wasn't enough as the Bulls battled back to a 4-3 shootout win. Goal scorers for Belleville were Brett Welychka, Trent Fox and David Tomasek. Toronto native Charlie Graham made 40 saves and earned first star honours. Forward Stephen Harper sealed the win in the shootout.
Vancouver Canucks prospect Jordan Subban continues to lead the squad with 25 goals and 26 assists in 62 games played. Captain Brett Welychka has also been a key contributor with 17 goals and 22 assists in 57 games played. Graham has been steady between the pipes all season long and is expected to start in the final home game of the regular season.
