(Sault Ste Marie, ON) - The Greyhounds scored four times in the first period and five more in the second on their way to a 12-1 trouncing of the visiting Spitfires Saturday night at the Essar Centre in Windsor's season finale.
Anthony DeAngelo, Sergey Tolchinsky, Nick Ritchie and Blake Speers each scored twice for Sault Ste Marie (53-12-0-2) and 15 hit the scoresheet in all, as the Greyhounds locked up top spot overall in the Ontario Hockey League. Slater Doggett (25) had the only goal for Windsor (24-40-2-2), which lost for the 11th consecutive time to wrap the campaign.
Brendan Johnston (13 saves) surrendered nine goals before being replaced by Alex Fotinos to start the third period. Both goaltenders gave up goals on the first two shots they faced. Brandon Halverson and Chatham native Joseph Raaymakers split the game between the pipes for the Greyhounds.
