Belleville Bulls News Release

BELLEVILLE, ON - The Belleville Bulls open up another home-and-home with the Ottawa 67's on Wednesday night at the Yardmen Arena. The Bulls continue the fight to keep their playoff hopes alive as they hold on to sixth place in the OHL's Eastern Conference, just three points ahead of the eighth place Kingston Frontenacs. The 67's are coming off a shootout win over the North Bay Battalion that snapped a two game losing skid. Puck drop is set for 7:05pm.

Despite trailing 4-1 half way through the middle frame last Sunday afternoon, the 67's battled back on home ice to a 6-5 victory front of 3,700 fans. 1996-born centre Dante Salituro led the come back with back-to-back tallies and a helper on winger Brandon Bell's game tying goal late in the third period. Rookie forward Travis Barron buried the lone shootout goal to secure the two points for his club.

Offensively, the 67's continue to be led by Salituro. The Willowdale, Ontario native has scored 3 goals and picked up 9 assists in the last 6 games played. Sophomore right-winger, Travis Konecny has also been a major contributor on the score sheet potting 21 goals and handing out 31 assists in 48 games played. Net minder Liam Herbst remains solid between the pipes for Ottawa as he owns a .894 save percentage and a 2.98 goals against average.

The Bulls suffered a tough loss on home ice last Saturday to the North Bay Battalion. After leading 2-0 heading into the final frame, the Troops scored two un-answered goals to send the game to overtime. A shootout was needed and North Bay's Alex Henriksson finished off the come back for his team. Goal scorers for the Bulls were Brett Gustavsen and Trent Fox. Matt Luff scored the only shootout goal for Belleville. Charlie Graham made 28 saves in the loss.

Vancouver Canucks prospect Jordan Subban is one goal away from breaking the record for most goals in a season by a defenceman. He is tied with former blue liner Shawn Lalonde at 19. Subban has also picked up 20 assists this season.

Rookie Trent Fox has had the hot stick of late scoring 2 goals and adding 2 assists in the last 4 games played. Fox is currently 5th among OHL rookies in scoring with 10 goals and 17 assists in total.

The Bulls look to add another two points as they continue to try to create some separation in a very tight Eastern Conference. With 14 games remaining on the schedule, every point matters.
