Coralville, Iowa - William Rousseau earned his second shutout of the season with 41 saves and the Iowa Heartlanders shut out the Toledo Walleye, 2-0, Wednesday morning at Xtream Arena. The Heartlanders have won six straight games, a season high.
The Heartlanders set the team's Best Field Trip Ever Day scanned attendance record; just under 1,400 area school kids attended the game for a fun and educational day. Friday at 7:00 p.m. is Teddy Bear Toss Night, pres. by Atlantic Bottling, where the Heartlanders encourage fans to help break the team record for highest scanned attendance in any Teddy Bear Toss game.
Bogdans Hodass ripped a shot from the right-wing circle to open the scoring with 12 seconds left in the middle frame, the eventual game-winning goal. Iowa remains undefeated in morning games all time (5-0-0-0).
With 1:28 to go, Dakota Raabe rushed up the ice to sink the Walleye with an empty-net goal.
Jan Bednar stopped 21 of 22 shots faced in the defeat.
