Winston-Salem, NC - Brent Morel powered a Winston-Salem (3-3, 41-33) attack that registered 17 hits on their way to an 11-6 romp of Potomac (3-3, 40-33) on Tuesday night at Wake Forest Baseball Park. Morel finished 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI, while left fielder Tyler Kuhn added a season-high four hits to help the Dash claim game three of this four-game series.

Potomac grabbed an early lead in the top of the second inning when Stephen King tripled off Johnnie Lowe with one out and Tim Pahuta followed with an RBI single. The Dash evened the score at one in the bottom of the second inning when Kuhn and catcher Adam Ricks connected on back-to-back singles to put runners on first and second. Right fielder Joe Persichina followed with a potential inning-ending double-play grounder but Nationals first baseman Chris Marrero dropped the relay throw which allowed Kuhn to score from second.

The Nationals jumped back in front in the top of the third inning when Sean Rooney smacked a one-out double and scored on a double by Michael Burgess. Another Potomac defensive mistake allowed the Dash take its first lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Kuhn reached on a two-out infield single and an error on the throw to first advanced him to second base. After Kuhn moved to third on a wild pitch by Will Atwood, Ricks tallied an RBI single to knot the score at two. Persichina followed with an RBI double to give the Dash a 3-2 lead.

Winston-Salem broke the game open with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Center fielder Salvador Sanchez and Ricks, who finished with three hits and two RBI, tallied run-scoring singles and Kuhn added an RBI triple to give the Dash a 7-2 lead. Potomac would not go down quietly as they produced four runs of their own in the top of the sixth inning as Dan Nelson and Sean Rooney banged two-run doubles to bring the Nationals within 7-6.

The Dash put the game away in the sixth inning when Morel blasted a two-run home run off Nationals reliever Adam Carr. Potomac, who committed five errors, made one of their blunders in the seventh inning after Sanchez reached on a leadoff single. Carr's pickoff throw bounced into right field and allowed Sanchez to race all the way around from first base to extend the Dash lead to 10-6. Morel added an RBI single in the eighth to finalize the scoring.

Lowe (6-2) tossed five innings and allowed six runs on 10 hits, but still garnered the win. Atwood (3-6) surrendered five runs (four earned) on eight hits in 4.1 innings of work and suffered the loss for Potomac. Nate Jones and Santo Luis worked the final four innings of scoreless relief for Winston-Salem to secure the victory.

These two teams conclude their four-game series on Wednesday night at Wake Forest Baseball Park. The Dash will send RHP Jacob Rasner (1-0, 3.23) to the mound, while the Nationals will counter with LHP Tom Milone (3-3, 4.04). The first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
