Halifax Mooseheads News Release
Your Halifax Mooseheads will play on home ice at Scotiabank Centre three times this week before the players and staff head for their respective hometowns for the QMJHL's holiday break. The first half of the season wraps up for the Herd with games Wednesday versus Acadie-Bathurst and back-to-back meetings in Moose Country against Saint John on Friday and Saturday. All games begin at 7pm.
Looking to rebound from a Saturday night loss to the Sea Dogs over the weekend, the Moose (21-8-3-0) will try to get back in the win column against the visiting Titan (12-16-1-2) in a mid-week battle. Halifax has won all four previous meetings between the clubs this season by a combined score of 22-10. Mathieu Cataford will lead the attack with eight points versus the Titan this season on three goals and five assists. He also scored in Saturday's 3-2 defeat in Saint John and sits fifth in the QMJHL scoring race with 44 points.
The rare back-to-back home games against the same opponent should make for an interesting weekend against the Sea Dogs. All seats in the upper bowl are on sale for just $12 for the Friday night contest while Saturday is Minor Hockey Night with hundreds of local minor hockey teams in attendance. The Maritimes Division rivals have only met twice so far this season, and both have been held at TD Station with Halifax winning 4-2 on November 10th before the Dogs scored twice late in regulation to nip the Moose 3-2 last weekend.
Tickets for all Mooseheads games are on sale now at Ticketmaster.ca
At the end of the week, the Mooseheads will have played 35 games this season, leaving 33 remaining regular season games. The team is second overall in the QMJHL standings with 45 points and will be looking for another long run in the playoffs in the spring. The QMJHL trading period is on the way and will run from Sunday, December 17th until Saturday, January 6th.
