Manitoba Moose News Release
The Manitoba Moose (8-8-1-0) fell to the Chicago Wolves (9-5-1-1) on Sunday afternoon at Allstate Arena. The teams traded power play opportunities in the first with each club getting two opportunities. Ken Appleby, making his first start in over two weeks, was strong on the penalty kill making 17 stops in the first frame. In the final minute of the opening period, Chicago broke the deadlock with Ryan Wagner's first AHL goal coming off the rush.
After scoring late in the first frame, the Wolves doubled their lead early in the second. It was Curtis McKenzie snapping the puck past Appleby quickly off a faceoff win. Chicago continued to put pressure on the Moose and nearly eleven minutes later, Griffin Reinhart scored off a drop pass. Manitoba finally beat on Dansk with 81 second left in the middle period. With Tucker Poolman's point shot bouncing off the end-boards, a sprawling JC Lipon was able to bang it home.
The Moose pulled within one with 5:20 on the clock. Logan Shaw's shot bounced behind the Chicago net where Lipon was waiting. Lipon spun to the far side post, putting it home before Dansk could make it across his crease. Manitoba's attack revved up with Appleby pulled, including a couple of chances in tight for Shaw, but Brandon Pirri found a loose puck sending it the length of the ice into the empty net. Appleby finished with 39 saves in the loss.
