Moose and Canucks assign Ellis to Salmon Kings

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that 20-year-old Goaltender Julien Ellis has been assigned to the Victoria Salmon Kings by the Moose and the Canucks. In addition, Salmon Kings Netminder David Belitski has been placed on waivers.

Ellis, a native of Sorel, PQ, was selected by Vancouver in round 6 (#189 overall) in the 2004 NHL entry draft. So far this season he has played two games with the Manitoba Moose and made 55 saves and earned a 0.846 save percentage.

The 6'0" 177-lb Goaltender spent four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Shawinigan Cataractes and tallied 88 wins, eight shut outs, and an overall goals against average of 2.85, in 173 games. In 2004-05 alone, he posted a 27-21-11 record, four shut outs, and a 0.921 save percentage.

Belitski, a native of Toronto, ON, started in three regular season games for Victoria and held a 0-2-1 record and a 0.865 save percentage.

Ellis will travel with the Salmon Kings to Las Vegas this Thursday.

The Salmon Kings play a three-game series versus the Wranglers on Nov 3, 4 and 7, before returning home to battle the Fresno Falcons for a Thursday-Saturday-Sunday series starting Nov 9.
