Durham Bulls News Release
DURHAM, N.C. - The first-place Durham Bulls won their final home game before the All-Star Break, 2-1, over the Norfolk Tides Monday night at the DBAP.
The Bulls now hit the road for six games, while the DBAP is prepared to host the 2014 Cree Triple-A All Star Game on July 16.
The Bulls (50-43) came from behind yet again, winning their fourth straight home game and sweeping the mini two-game homestand against the Tides (36-56).
After Norfolk scored on a first-inning sacrifice fly off of Matt Andriese, the Bulls evened the score in the bottom of the first when Jeremy Moore delivered an RBI single to centerfield that scored Mike Fontenot.
The newest Bull provided all the offense Durham needed, as Moore broke the 1-1 tie his next time up with a solo home run to deep right-centerfield. The dinger marked Moore's third homer - and second in two nights - in just 11 games with the Bulls since his promotion from Double-A Montgomery.
Andriese (9-4) earned the win, his eighth over his last 10 starts, allowing just one run on five hits in seven innings. Southpaw Adam Liberatore retired all four hitters he faced over the eighth and ninth innings, before Josh Lueke came on to notch the final two outs to earn his fourth save. Mike Wright (1-8) took the loss for Norfolk, despite allowing just two runs on four hits across six frames.
The Bulls hit the road for two games at Norfolk, as RHP Alex Colome (4-1, 3.09) starts for the Bulls Tuesday night opposite RHP Tyler Wilson (0-0, 1.50) for Norfolk. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
