Houston Dynamo FC News Release

Goals from Marco Di Vaio and Felipe secured a 2-0 home win for the Montreal Impact as the Houston Dynamo snapped their five-game road unbeaten streak on Wednesday night at Stade Saputo in Montreal.

The Dynamo return home on Saturday to host Toronto FC (8 p.m. CT kickoff) after completing a stretch of six of nine league games on the road. Wednesday's loss was Houston's third straight game away from home.

The Dynamo (6-5-4; 22 points) remain tied for third place in the Eastern Conference standings. Houston is now seven points behind the first place Impact (9-3-2; 29 points).

Montreal seized the lead in the 14th minute when Patrice Bernier lofted a pass from the middle of the field into the penalty area and Felipe settled the ball before converting his chance for a 1-0 Impact lead.

Houston had a great opportunity to equalize eight minutes later when Will Bruin beat Montreal defender Alessandro Nesta at the top of the box and was taken down by Matteo Ferrari as the Dynamo were awarded a penalty.

Giles Barnes took the spot kick but sent it over the bar for a miss and the Dynamo remained a goal behind.

The Impact capitalized eight minutes later to double their lead. A Dynamo corner kick was cleared to midfield, where defender Corey Ashe attempted to play a pass to goalkeeper Tally Hall. Ashe's pass was mishit and intercepted by Di Vaio, who raced in alone on goal and chipped a shot over a charging Hall for his co-league leading tenth goal of the year and a 2-0 lead.

Despite being shut out, Houston created a lot of chances on offense. The Dynamo generated 18 shots, but only two on goal. Houston had several good chances to score, but most of its shots were just wide, or just above the goal frame.

Houston delivered 30 open play crosses (out-crossing Montreal 30-9), had six corner kicks and had possession of the ball 57 percent of the game.

Hall made eight saves, including three outstanding saves on shots from Di Vaio, to set a season-high for saves in a game.

Houston's five-game unbeaten streak was its longest since 2007 and two shy of its longest in franchise history (seven games).

It was Ashe's 175th career regular season game.

It was Hall's 112th career appearance in all competitions with the Dynamo. He is tied with Dwayne De Rosario for 15th on the franchise list.

It was Bruin's 75th career start in all competitions with the Dynamo.
