Montreal Juniors News Release
Montreal, February 10th 2010- The Montreal Juniors Hockey Club of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League are pleased to confirm that the game scheduled for Friday February 12th against the Val D'or Foreurs at the Verdun Auditorium will in fact take place as originally scheduled. Upon receiving notice from the City of Montreal that the game was to be cancelled as a result of the Montréal blue collar workers' strike, the Club took measures to insure that the dispute would not interrupt the scheduled game.
Martin Routhier, President of the Club, stated follows: "With several thousand tickets already sold for this game, and thousands of our fans looking forward to attending this game, it was our priority to insure the labor dispute would not affect the playing of our game. Furthermore, for Friday's game we have events planned to raise funds for the Pediatric Cancer Society and the ALS Society of Quebec, so we are thrilled that these events will take place as originally scheduled". This Friday's game will commence at 7:35PM and be televised on the Vox channel.
The Montreal Juniors Hockey Club is proud to announce that on February 12th and 13th the team will participate in two days worth of events supporting the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Society of Quebec (ALS) and the "Hustle for a Cure" program from Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada.
Kicking off the weekend is the Juniors' Friday night tilt against Val D'Or at 7:35, where a percentage of the proceeds collected at the Verdun Auditorium will be donated to the ALS Society of Quebec. Also in attendance that evening, there will be the participants in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada's "Hustle for a Cure" program.
In attendance on Friday, there will be the participants from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada's "Hustle for a Cure" program. On Saturday, February 13th, five Junior players will join triathletes, cyclists and fitness enthusiasts to take part in a "Spin-O-Thon" to raise money for the ALS Society of Quebec. The "Spin-O-Thon", which will be held at the Midtown Sporting Club Le Sanctuaire (6105 ave. Du Boisé, Montreal), will begin at 2:30.
