QMJHL support Défi sportif 2010

BOUCHERVILLE, Wednesday, February 10, 2010 - The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League is proud to support the 2010 edition of the Défi Sportif by presenting two demonstrations in QMJHL venues:

- Hockey for disabled athletes; February 14 at the Verdun Auditorium (Montreal) - Sledge Hockey; February 27 at the Marcel-Dionne Centre (Drummondville)

"We are very happy to encourage and promote this initiative," said the Commissioner of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Gilles Courteau. This year, Défi Sportif will be the hosts of the World Hockey Championship for disabled athletes. The event will welcome teams from Canada, the U.S., Finland and Latvia as well as a team which will regroup players from several different nationalities. Moreover, a national sledge hockey competition will welcome teams from Quebec, Ontario and the United States.

The Défi Sportif is an international event which regroups more than 3,200 athletes from more than twenty countries every year. It will be held in seven Montreal-area venues from April 27 to May 2. Fourteen disciplines are expected to be showcased.
