MAINEiacs Power Past Wildcats

Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release


LEWISTON, ME - The Lewiston MAINEiacs used three power play goals to defeat the second place Moncton Wildcats 5-4 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee Wednesday night.

Lewiston raced out to 2-0 lead in the first on goals by Jess Tanguy and Billy Lacasse. Moncton got on the board at 2:13 of the second period as the league's leading scorer, Nicholas Deschamps scored the first of three goals on the night.. Lewiston once again assumed a two goal edge on Sam Henley's tip-in goal at 11:03 giving the MAINEiacs a 3-1 lead at the end of two.

After Randy Cameron made the score 3-2 on an early goal in the third, Lewiston took advantage of a couple of Moncton penalties. Michael Chaput and Pierre-Olivier Morin each lit the lamp on the power play, giving Lewiston a 5-2 lead. However, Moncton did not go away quiet, leaning on their leading scorer for two more tallies. Deshamps scored the third and fourth goal to complete the hat trick, but the MAINEiacs would hang on for the hard fought 5-4 victory.

Adrien Lemay earned the win in net making 35 saves, while Moncton goaltender Shane Owen takes the loss stopping 26 shots. For a complete game recap CLICK HERE
