Monterey Bay FC News Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - Monterey Bay F.C. (0-2-0, 0 points) fell 1-0 to Switchbacks FC at Weidner Field in Colorado Springs on Saturday.
Monterey Bay F.C. created the first real opportunity of the match in the 22nd minute. Seku Conneh closed down the goalkeeper quickly, forcing a scramble in the box that left Arun Basuljevic with the ball. With possession at a tough angle near the baseline, Basuljevic's shot across the face of goal missed the right post by inches and the match remained scoreless. Late in the first half, Colorado Springs pinned the Union back with a long spell of possession that resulted in several opportunities before the hosts found the breakthrough with a goal by Elvis Amoh in the 40th minute to bring the score to 1-0 at the halftime break.
In the 65th minute of the second half, Monterey Bay F.C. midfielder Mobi Fehr earned his second booking of the match, leaving the Union with 10 men for the final 35 minutes. In the 77th minute, Switchbacks FC forward Hadji Barry fired on frame with a right-footed shot, but his shot was saved by Rafi Díaz' diving effort and the match ended 1-0.
GOAL SCORING RUNDOWN:
COS: Elvis Amoh (Hadji Barry), 40th minute: Following a run down the left side of the pitch, Hadji Barry crossed a ball into a dangerous area above the six yard box. Elvis Amoh's ensuing shot took a deflection and dribbled inside the left post.
