HARRISON, N.J. (March 18, 2022) - New York Red Bulls II (1-1-0, 3 points) will host Loudoun United FC (1-0-0, 3 points), on Saturday, March 19, in the 2022 home opener for New York. Kickoff at MSU Soccer Park is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET, with coverage available on ESPN+.
Red Bulls II is coming off a 1-0 victory against Atlanta United 2 on Wednesday, March 16. Forward Jordan Adebayo-Smith scored the first goal of the season for the club on an assist from midfielder John Murphy. New York held Atlanta without a shot on goal in the match.
New York leads the all-time series 4-3-1 and has won four of the last five meetings, including the last two. The two sides met three times in 30 days to end the 2021 season, with Loudoun accounting for the final two home matches of the year. Red Bulls II won the most recent meeting, 4-1, on October 30 at Segra Field. Midfielder Jeremy Rafanello recorded a brace in the contest.
Loudoun won its season opener, defeating Indy Eleven 1-0 on Saturday, March 12. The victory marked its first season-opening victory in club history. The club added a few key defensive pieces in the offseason, most notably former Chicago Fire Homegrown Player Grant Lillard. Midfielder Sami Guediri made the USL Championship Team of the Week for the opening weekend.
The match continues a stretch for New York in which it will play four matches in the first 12 days of the season. It also marks the third match in the first week of the season for the club.
Following the match, New York will remain home to face Louisville City FC on Wednesday, March 23. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET, with coverage available on ESPN+.
