CLEVELAND - The AHL's defending Calder Cup Champions, the Cleveland Monsters, proudly powered by Constellation, defeated the Milwaukee Admirals on Friday at The Q by a final score of 4-1. With the win, the Monsters improved to 8-10-1-1 overall this season and with a .450 points percentage, currently sit alone in seventh place in the AHL's Central Division standings.

The Monsters grabbed control of the game early on Friday as Daniel Zaar scalded home a one-time even-strength feed from the heart of the slot, courtesy of T.J. Tynan, to make it 1-0 at 4:56 of the opening frame. With time winding down in the first, Zaar struck again at 18:22, redirecting a power-play feed from Ryan Craig and Alex Broadhurst to push the Monsters' lead to 2-0.

In the middle frame, a long stretch of scoreless hockey gave way to an even-strength center-point Jaime Sifers blast at 13:39, assisted by Blake Siebenaler and Jordan Maletta, that made it 3-0 Cleveland heading into the final period. The Admirals put themselves in the mix at 12:16 of the third when Adam Payerl scored to draw Milwaukee within a pair, but an empty-net score from Oliver Bjorkstrand at 17:50, the Danish-born winger's team-leading seventh tally of the season, established Cleveland's 4-1 final margin of victory thanks to a nifty neutral-ice setup from Nick Moutrey and Paul Bittner.

Joonas Korpisalo improved to 2-3-1 in net for the Monsters by virtue of a 21-save performance while Marek Mazanec took the loss between the pipes for Milwaukee despite stopping 22 of the 25 shots he faced. With Friday's victory, the Monsters snapped a three-game home losing streak and ended Milwaukee's league-wide season-long 11 game point streak.

Next up for the Monsters, it's a Saturday rematch vs. the Admirals with full coverage, live from The Q, underway at 6:00 pm on 99X and the Monsters Hockey Network.
