Monsoon Washes Away Saturday's Caps Game

August 29, 2010 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Edmonton Capitals News Release

Tucson, AZ - Monsoon conditions on Saturday in Tucson caused the Golden Baseball League game between the Edmonton Capitals and host Toros to be suspended, with a double-header scheduled for Sunday.

Strong thunderstorms pounded southern Arizona on Saturday afternoon and evening, rendering the playing surface at Hi Corbett Field in Tucson unplayable. Barring further torrential rain, the Caps and Toros will play two seven-inning games on Sunday starting at 5:30 p.m. MST.

The Caps (18-18) are in fourth place in the GBL's North Division in the second half, sitting 5.5 games back of the Calgary Vipers (24-13), who won 12-4 against the second-place Victoria Seals (20-16) on Saturday. The Chico Outlaws sit in third at 19-16, thanks to a 10-1 win over St. George on Saturday.

Tucson won the first two games of their four-game series against Edmonton on Thursday and Friday. The Caps return home for a three-game series against the Seals, Tuesday through Thursday at TELUS Field, with all three games starting at 7 p.m.

The Capitals are Edmonton's first choice for professional baseball and family entertainment. Season seats for 2011 are now available, and fans who purchase them before Sept. 2 will received a bat autographed by the entire team. Individual game tickets are available for just $10 every game. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations, the TELUS Field Box Office during regular business hours, by calling (780) 414-GOAL (4625) or online at capsbaseball.ca.
