Moncton Wildcats News Release
The number two ranked Wildcats have been breaking records as a team. Now the attention is shifting to players recognized for their contributions and skills.
For the second time in as many months Nicola Riopel is the QMJHL Defensive Player of the Month. Also considered by the panel for the honour of Defensive Player of the Month was Mark Barberio. Moncton also received two more nominations for players of the month, Matt Eagles as Offensive Player of the Month and Brandon Gormley as Rookie of the Month.
"I'm really happy for Rio. He's had a tremendous start and the award is well deserved," said Danny Flynn head coach and director of hockey operations for the Moncton Wildcats.
Rookies Louis Boileau-Domingue and Matt Bissonnette also grasped the attention of Hockey Quebec. The pair were invited to the final evaluation camp for Team Quebec for the World U-17 Championships to be held in Port Alberni this December.
"It's great to see that Louis and Matt will get a chance to compete for Team Quebec. As well two of our picks from the 2008 draft, Olivier Daoust (4th round) and Yasin Cissé (5th round) have been selected for the camp. To have four 1992s at the Quebec camp and potentially three 1992s att the Atlantic camp confirms that we had a very stong 2008 draft," said Flynn.
