Moncton Chrysler Superstore adds a third car, Prize money jumps to $175,000

Moncton, NB - Moncton Chrysler Superstore is on board to support the city's efforts to beat Saint John in fan attendance at next Tuesday's Rivalry Cup game. The Chrysler dealership today added one of its vehicles to the prize pot for the big game on March 10th. The announcement came late this afternoon. Not only the added car but also the prize cash pot has jumped to $175,000.
The game between the Moncton Wildcats and Saint John Sea Dogs, at the Coliseum will give fans the chance to win five major prizes. Here's the list at the moment and don't be surprised if it changes. The Chrysler vehicle announced today, a General Motors vehicle from Lounsbury Chevrolet, from Taylor Ford a Ford vehicle, $25,000 in furniture from Lounsbury Furniture and the $175,000 in cash.
"We're getting closer to the 5,789 we need to beat Saint John and show our appreciation to our fans for their support. That's the reason we're offering these big prizes," said Bill Schurman, the Wildcats general manager.
The Rivalry Cup idea started when Saint John challenged Moncton to see who has the most dedicated hockey fans in New Brunswick. Saint John attracted 5,585 fans to the game on February 8th at Harbour Station. In order to win the trophy, the Wildcats need to put 5,789 fans in the Coliseum seats. Fan support in Moncton has now gone over the 5,000 mark.
"We're not there yet," said Schurman. "So we can't stop pushing to reach our ultimate goal of filling the Coliseum. That should hammer home the point," he added.
In order to determine who gets to shoot from centre ice for the big prizes, elimination shoot outs will take place in the first intermission next Tuesday night. The possible prize winning shots will go during the game's second intermission.
