Published on March 2, 2009 under Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) News Release

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, March 2, 2009 - The Commissioner of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Gilles Courteau, today granted the Acadie-Bathurst Titan a seven-day extension to submit a relocation request. The new deadline is set for Monday, March 9, at 3:00 pm (Eastern Time).

The extension was granted due to ongoing negotiations between the owner of the Titan organization, Léo-Guy Morrissette, and the owners of Mile One Arena in St. John's, Newfoundland, as well as with local city officials who are looking at the possibility of keeping the team in Bathurst.

Of note, any relocation request must first be accepted by QMJHL Members as stipulated in the League's Constitution.

The Commissioner of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League will make no further comment until the process has been concluded.
